Race the Train

A group of 20 made the journey to Tywyn on the west coast of Wales with 12 club runners amongst them. For the main Rotary Challenge 14m race it was the familiar figure of Steve Leverton coming home first for the club in 1:35:20 for 20th place overall. Train001.jpg

Steve Bennett was the only other runner to beat the train with a time of 1:45:33 – the train came home just inside 1:48.

Most improved runner on last year was Kev Loftus who just broke the hour and finished 17 minutes quicker than in 2008.

In the 10k Quarry Challenge Malc Gonnella on his train debut was first NDRC runner back in 54:52 with Dave Edwards continuing on the comeback trail finishing in 65:38, 7 minutes up on last years time.
