The Bolsover 10k

In partnership positiveWe are delighted to announce St John Ambulance as our partners for this year’s race. Please read below a statement from them…

St John Ambulance is the nation’s leading first aid charity. We believe that everyone who needs it should receive first aid from those around them and that no one should suffer for the lack of trained first aiders.

We have over 40,000 volunteers who are committed to training, caring and saving lives. We’re also one of the country’s leading youth organisations – more than half of our members are aged under 25.

Our volunteers are a familiar and reassuring sight at a variety of local and national events, all giving their time to support the local community. Without their presence many of these events could not take place.

In Derbyshire our 1270 volunteers help around 2500 patients annually, transporting more than 300 patients to hospital, providing more than 2000 hours of social care and giving more than 180,000 hours service to the local community. We offer volunteering opportunities from first aiders at public events, youth members (Badgers aged 5-10 and Cadets aged 10-18), Community First Responders operating in partnership with the East Midlands Ambulance Service, and Cycle Responders at public events. We also have a multi-faith division in the Peartree and Normanton area of Derby.

For information about St John Ambulance please call 08700 10 49 50 or visit www.sja.org.uk/derbyshire.
Thank you for supporting St John Ambulance in Derbyshire.

About the Course

The new course is a fast, slightly undulating, potential PB course which has always been over subscribed before race day. The 2009 race on Sunday the 13th of December will have a new start and finishing point in the grounds of Bolsover Castle and a new course – map to follow.

Race entry forms will be available from September onwards but you will need to enter early to be sure of a place. If your entry arrives too late then it will be returned.

St John Ambulance Sponsor Form.

Only 3 weeks to go now to the Mizuno Bolsover Castle Race and entries are building up so if you want to get a place then get your entry in as soon as you can.  You can still enter by post, entry form can be downloaded from here, you can also enter online via www.runnersworld.co.uk.
We have also had a request from a blind runner who would like to run the race but needs another runner to accompany them round. They are no slouch being capable of running 10k in 52 minutes. Is there anyone out there able to help, if so please email nderbysrc@yahoo.co.uk
